Fraize and Associates provides specialized intensive support services driven by your goals and determination to help keep you on track.
F&A believes the key to a successful transition is to establish cooperative, responsive and frequent lines of communication between the student, family, school and the educational consultant. F&A works with clients to help them develop relevant academic, social, familial and behavioral goals for the transition period, and maintains the continuous flow of communication within this network via in person visits, and HIPPA compliant emails, phone calls and video conferences. F&A clients work directly with Darrell Fraize, M.Ed., LCPC, LADC or Andy Derstine, MSW, LCSW in this process.

- Transitioning from a successful challenge in a wilderness program to a new traditional boarding school.
- Enrolled in Summertime Onward to strengthen their foundation of skills prior to entering school in the fall.

F&A students and their families have an advantage.
Students coming from a successful experience in a treatment program have motivation, perspective and a brand new plan. In addition they likely have some or all the following:
- Recent testing and recommendations- a new awareness of learning differences, autism spectrum disorders, anxiety, mood and substance use disorders, or other DSM V diagnoses
- Recent evaluation of medication, efficacy and possibly new prescriptions for medications
- A sound state of mind, good health, are physically fit and clean of substance and non-substance addictions
- Have worked with the sending program, educational consultant and F&A to develop a treatment plan including an immediate contingency plan is the case of dismissal
- An active engagement in family therapy. Lines of communication within the family have been established by a primary care therapist. The parents and the student are aware of issues and system dynamics
- An understanding of consequence for action and the immediate and latent impact of their actions on others
- A demonstrated and proven ability to accept and receive constructive feedback from peers, family members and authority figures
- The readiness to practice better personal boundaries with peer relationships, electronic use and school work
- The feeling of exhileration of overcoming challenge, the opportunity for a fresh start and the desire to be successful
Critical Facts
- F&A is not an educational consulting practice. Please contact Darrell or IECA to locate an independent consultant.
- F&A works with students after they have been accepted to boarding school and referred by an educational consultant.*
- F&A clients work directly with Darrell Fraize or Andy Derstine.
- F&A meets in person with the student, family and school staff just prior to, or on the day of enrollment and periodically during the duration of the service. Individual, HIPPA compliant messaging, phone and video conferencing sessions are weekly.
- Parents contract quarterly with F&A. There is no fee for the educational consultant or boarding school for students services.
- F&A is based in the northeast. Geographic exceptions are carefully considered and may be appropriate.
- In strict accordance with federal HIPPA compliance,F&A requires a Release of Information Form (ROI) for every contact. A ROI must be secured in advance to discuss specific clinical information about the student from the parent, or the student if over the age of 18.
- F&A makes every effort to maintain client privacy and confidentiality. As a tele mental health and coaching service, F&A employs encryption, password protection, secure data storage and remote memory wiping to safeguard against threats to client records. F&A utilizes BestNotes for its client records management.
- Darrell Fraize is an individual professional member of the National Association of Therapeutic Schools and Programs.
* F&A believes it to be in the best interest of the student, family, and boarding school to rely on the professional direction of an educational consultant for placement decisions. Darrell encourages all families to consider working with an independent consultant and will guide them to resources to help locate one. If the family chooses not to use a consultant, it is with the full knowledge of the limitations of F&A's services in that area.
